If you need to employ the services of a Colorado vet tech, a good starting point is the Colorado Association of Certified Veterinary Technicians. Located in Denver is Bel-Rea, one of the largest and most comprehensive veterinary technician training programs in the country. This accredited school has state of the art training labs which include surgery and treatment rooms for both large and small animals. Not only do you learn in their modern classrooms, you also learn during a ten week internship working with a veterinarian. Bel-Rea also helps their graduates find jobs, and provides each student individualized attention. For these reasons and more Bel-Rea graduates are some of the most sought after in the country.

Another school that has a vet tech program is Colorado Mountain College. This is the ideal educational facility for individuals who want to work with farm animals. On campus you will find not only a 2600 square foot treatment center but also outdoor pens and a 12 stall horse barn. Even if you don't want to work with farm animals this school is recommended because it also teaches you how to work with cats, dogs and even exotic creatures. On the farm are injured raptors that cannot be returned to their natural habitat.

There are various other Colorado vet tech programs that can educate you and prepare you for your state exam. Once you are licensed the job search can begin. You will need a resume or CV that details your education and experience as an intern. You can look in your local newspaper want ads for jobs, send your resume and cover letter to vets in the area or even conduct an online job search. Because there are always animals in need of medical attention, there will always be a need for caretakers like veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
